Anglo Saxon animal carvings at Breedon-on-the-Hill, Leicestershire.
Ango Saxon sculpture is divided into two main periods, that before the 9th century Danish invasion and that after King Alfred (871-899). The period covers a period from the earliest Christian crosses, and includes stone decorative elements in churches depicting grotesque animals and fiugures intertwined with vine tendrils.

The dragonflies are larger and more robust, and faster fliers than the damselflies (Zygoptera). The hindwing is broader than the forewing and they rest with their wings spread.

Comparision of two Annunciation windows, by the Julien Fournier Studio, dated 1885 and 1886 in Pontlevoy and Cheverny respectively.
This Annunciation (1438-1443) frescoe, by Fra Angelico, is in cell 3 of the novice accommodation at San Marco Florence.
Placed above the lights depicting St. Mary, St. Elizabeth, and St. Anne, this Annunciation of 1880 is by William Morris.
Situated in the south aisle this stained glass window (1877) by John Hardman depicts the Annunciation to the Shepherds.
