Bourges Cathedral Spandrels

1240 to 1260

 

The spandrels below the tympanum above the five doors on western facade of Bourges Cathedral contain sculpted scene from Old Testament stories, including the Creation, Cain and Abel, and Noah and the flood. These were completed between 1240 and 1260 when the western facade was completed.
