This stained glass window, created in 1918 by Arild Rosenkrantz, depicts the Archangel Raphael guiding the young Tobias, a scene drawn from the Book of Tobit. The artist’s style combines late Pre-Raphaelite influence with early 20th-century symbolism, using rich color and flowing line to convey both tenderness and divine protection.

Raphael stands tall and serene, filling the vertical frame. His wings, rendered in tones of violet and rose, spread behind him like a luminous canopy. He wears layered robes of pink and deep green, the folds carefully modeled to suggest quiet movement. In his left hand he holds a long staff, the traditional emblem of his role as a guide and protector. His expression is calm and compassionate, embodying both strength and gentleness.

At Raphael’s side stands Tobias, the boy whom the archangel accompanies on his journey. Tobias's small hand hold securely to Raphael’s robe. In his other hand he carries the fish, the source of the healing gall that will restore his father Tobit’s sight, a key symbol of divine assistance and faith.

The lower panel bears the word “MERCY,” emphasizing the spiritual theme of compassionate guidance. Vivid greens, purples, and blues dominate the composition, their jewel-like tones glowing against the dark outlines typical of stained glass work. The overall effect is both intimate and radiant, capturing the essence of spiritual care and the protective bond between heaven and humankind.
