Virgin of Humility and Angel by Don Silvestro Dei Gherarducci - Accademia Florence

This tempera on wood painting of the "Virgin of Humility", dated between 1360 and 1365, is by Silvestro Dei Gherarducci. Original from the Santa Maria Nuova Hospital in Florence this painting is now in the Accademia. It follows a popular theme established from the second quarter of the 14th century of the Virgin seated on the ground cradling the infant child and offering her breast.
