This Tree of Jesse in the church of St Godard Rouen, is the work of Arnoult de Nimégue (1506). It contains of a number of figures in the French Renaissance style, there are kings (royal descendents of King David) wearing damask and crowns, the Virgin Mary and Jesus, King David holding a harp, Jesse of Bethlehem on a throne, and the four greater prophets of the old testament.
There has been a small amount of restoration work carried out on the glass, but the paint is very degraded in places. The window was removed following the abolition of the parish in 1802, and was destined to be erected in Saint-Ouen, however it was restored back in Saint-Godard in 1806.
This Tree of Jesse (1522) in St-Étienne, Beauvais is considered to be one of the major works of Engrand Le Prince. Unfortunately the lower part of the window was destroyed in 1793 (year II of the Republic), when the church was used as a store house.
