This marvble relief sculpture is titled "Creation of Eve" and was created by Donatello between 1406 and 1408, for the Campanile of Florence Cathedral (Giotto’s Bell Tower). At present it is located in the Opera del Duomo.

This work reflects Donatello’s early Renaissance style, notable for its heightened naturalism and emotional expressiveness. The scene shows Eve emerging from Adam’s side while a God assists her. Adam is shown reclining, partially covered by a cloth, while Eve kneels, reaching out in a gesture of dependence and reverence. The drapery on God is handled with flowing, realistic folds, contrasting the smooth bodies of Adam and Eve.

The 'Creation of Eve' marks an early milestone in Donatello’s career, showcasing his ability to blend theological narrative with innovative sculptural techniques. The effect is more three dimensional than works from the Gothic period, it reflects the transition from Gothic to Renaissance aesthetics, emphasizing human anatomy and emotional depth.
