
The dragonflies are larger and more robust, and faster fliers than the damselflies (Zygoptera). The hindwing is broader than the forewing and they rest with their wings spread. A diagram of the wing venation in Anisoptera can be found on Günter Bechly's Odonata website.
These are the fastest flying of the insects and amongst the most agile. They are also the most predatory of the insects, and an individual can eat its own weight in food within 30 minutes.
