Francis Shirley Tomb - Breedon-on-the-Hill, Leicestershire

Tomb of Francis Shirley of Staunton Harold (d1571), and his wife Dorothy. The tomb bears their effigies and has pairs of mourners holding shields. One of the mourners is in a shroud.
 
This is one of three tombs, made from Chellaston alabaster by Richard & Gabriel Royley of Burton-upon-Trent, for the Shirely family.
 




 
There are three other Shirely tombs in this church all by Richard & Gabriel Royley. Tomb of John Shirely (d1570), and the tomb of George Shirely (d1588).
