The Hawker dragonflies, or, Darners in North America. These are medium to large dragonflies. Always on the move with a hawking flight in open spaces, frequently hovering over a spot. At rest they hang from branches.

The dragonflies are larger and more robust, and faster fliers than the damselflies (Zygoptera). The hindwing is broader than the forewing and they rest with their wings spread.
